Team BC athlete Maya Jonas has run the Boston Marathon and is a three time medallist at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Jonas lost her eyesight in her 20s from retinitis pigmentosa. She became set on becoming more physically fit after been diagnosed with breast cancer and began running. She said sports saved her life and she continues to be active by competing in cross country skiing and hopes to one day represent Canada at the Paralympic's. 

She came home with three medals at the 2019 Canada Winter Games — bronze in the 2.5 km event, bronze in the sprint event and silver in the five km event.
