Freestyle skier lands gold at Canada Winter Games

Team BC had a stellar day on the slopes of Canyon Hill Resort with Bradyon Kuroda landing a gold medal in aerials.

Kuroda (Penticton), Sam Cordell (West Vancouver) and Josh Maga (North Vancouver) qualified for the aerial finals. It was Kuroda that took top spot with a score of 121.65, earning Team BC's first gold medal at the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Maga finished in fifth place with a score of 112.59 and Cordell finished in seventh with a score of 104.78

"It's pretty sweet. I'm pretty hyped," said Kuroda after winning the gold medal.

Two female athletes qualified for the finals but just missed the podium. Maya Mikkelsen (Whistler) finished in fourth place with a score of 88.57. Kassidy Todd (Keremeos) was sitting in second place in the qualifier but ended up in sixth place with a score of 61.63.

Jessie Linton (North Vancouver) missed qualifying fo the final, sitting in seventh. She is looking forward to competing in the moguls competition on Monday.

 

"I was feeling good while training on the moguls course today and strong for tomorrow's competition," said Linton.
