Team BC captures four more medals

Four more medals were earned by Team BC athletes on Tuesday bringing the collective tally up to 10 (five gold, one silver and four bronze).
BC swept the gold medal spots at the individual pursuit events in biathlon. Larissa Black (Squamish) won the women's 7.5 kilometre race. Gillian Gowling (Whistler) secured silver for Team BC. 

Ryan Elden (Quesnel) won gold in the men's 10 km indiviudal pursuit event and Andrei Secu (Coquitlam) won his second bronze medal of the Games.

Team BC boxers — Jonathan Hannah (Vancouver), Brayden Hellekson (Nelson), Dylan Clark (Cranbrook) and Brayden Sims (Fort St. John) solidified spots in the medal bouts.

Kendall Stirrat (Vancouver) and Hannah McDonagh-Proud (Nanaimo) will advance to the A final in artistic swimming duet event. Kaitlyn Aylesworth (Victoria) and Mara Lambert (Victoria) will swim in the B finals. 

Three Team BC gymnasts qualified to compete in the all-around final yesterday with Kennedy Duke (Surrey) finishing in eight overall, Ella Rogers (Langley) finished in 11th and Kathy Zhong (Langley) in 14th place.

Athletes that have a chance to win a medal today include Team BC boxers — three for bronze and one for gold. The bouts will be aired on TSN, so drop in at the Westerner and help cheer them on. Competition starts at 5 p.m.

 

If you are competing in a medal round, please ensure you pack your blue long sleeve shirt, black quilted jacket, toque, mitts and scarf. Team BC should be wearing these items on the podium.

 

Happy birthday to long track athlete Laura Hall (Salmon Arm). Rumour has it she is an avid pin trader. If you see her around the Village and have extra pins, send them her way!
