Team BC 

The Team BC cheer squad welcomed 123 athletes to Red Deer on Thursday for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

“Team BC is so excited to have the Week 1 athletes in Red Deer and we can’t wait for the Pep Rally, Opening Ceremony and for competition to begin,” said Jen Scott, Chef de Mission for Team BC. “Remember to have fun, soak in the experience, make new friends and be respectful to the volunteers who are here to help these Games go smoothly.”

The Opening Ceremony will feature over 500 performers and will be televised live on TSN.

The ceremony is led by Patrick Roberge Productions, who has organized Grey Cup half-time shows, the 2010 Paralympic Games, Invictus Games and 2017 Canada Summer Games.

Athletes need to be selfie-ready prior to 4 p.m. wearing their ceremony gear. Have your phones charged and leave all personal items at dorms (do not bring backpacks, water bottles etc.). 

 

Dinner will be from 4 to 4:30 p.m. and athletes should be ceremony ready with no personal belongings.

 

At 4:40 p.m. athletes will be loaded onto their bus from the dinning hall to the Parkland Pavilion. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. The ceremony concludes at 9 p.m. and athletes will exit to the buses.

 

 

What to wear and when today:

 

Pep Rally attire is the blue long sleeved shirt, blue shell jacket and black joggers or plain black athletic bottoms.

 

For the Opening Ceremony wear your blue long sleeved shirt, blue shell jacket (the shell must be the outer layer for the walk-in), black quilted jacket (if required due to cold weather), black joggers or plain black athletic bottoms and Team BC toque, mitts and scarf.
