These points are called Flag Points. At each Western Canada Summer Games, the Province or Territory with the greatest number of points from all events is declared the champion and presented winner of the Western Canada Summer Games Trophy. British Columbia has taken part in the Western Canada Summer Games since 1975 when the Games were first held in Regina.
