Three gold medals for Team BC badminton
It was a golden day on the badminton courts for Team BC at the Canada Winter Games.

Athletes stepped up to the top of the podium in men’s singles, women’s singles and women’s doubles.

In men’s singles, Antonio Li (Victoria), defeated Kevin Lee (Alberta) 30-29 and 21-14.

Wendy Zhang (Richmond) took an early lead of Talia Ng (Ontario) winning her first set 21-18. Ng bounced back winning the second set 14-21. Zhang charged back late in the set and defeated Ng 21-17 to take the match and the gold medal.

In women’s doubles, Zhang and Kylie Cheng (Vancouver) paired up to win the gold medal. They defeated the Quebec powerhouse team of Camille Leblanc and Alyson Rush. The Team BC duo won their first set 21-18, lost the second set 14-21 and took the last one 22-20.

Zhang had defeated Leblanc in the female singles semi-final on Tuesday to earn her spot in the final.
