Team BC badminton players qualified for the finals of the women's singles, men's singles and women's doubles events at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.
Antonio Li (Victoria) advanced to the men's singles finals winning his matches 21-19 and 21-14.
It was an exciting match, with Imran Wadia (from Alberta) coming out of the gates strong and taking the lead. However, Li began to execute good control from the front court and was able to take the lead back to win the first game.
Li's counterpart, and opponent in the gold medal match tomorrow, Kevin Lee (from Alberta) had a close match with his teammate Yunzhi Chen, narrowly coming out ahead in the second game 23-21 after winning the first game comfortably.
In the women's singles, Wendy Zhang (Richmond) advanced by winning her matches 21-14 and 21-16. She will face
Talia Ng (from Ontario) who has a 4-1 head-to-head record against Zhang in previous encounters.
Kylie Chen and Zhang advanced to the women's finals, winning their matches 24-22, 21-16. They lost the second set 19-21.
The men's singles finals starts at 12:30 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris building, the women's singles finals starts at noon.
