As the individual competition kicked off there were many celebrations to be heard as athletes were victorious throughout the day. As with all sport, some also had to face elimination. A tough lesson for anyone, but a necessary part of it.
Preliminary rounds were played in Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles throughout the morning and into the early afternoon, followed by Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed doubles into the evening. In a surprise fashion, all of the seeds in the Men’s Singles advanced into the Quarter Final round, which begins at 9:00am the following day.
In the Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles, results came in fairly textbook. All seeded teams advanced through to the Quarter Finals tomorrow morning. There will be some exciting clashes as they begin to enter to each other’s side of the draw.
There was a noticeable amount of attention from spectators as they poured into the stands to watch. Positive feed back from both players and fans has been well received by the Games and its volunteers.
