Team BC Snowboard wasted no time getting to the podium on day of competition for the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Colby Graham (Prince George) raced well to secure the silver medal in snowboardcross on a frigid day at the Canyon Ski Resort.
“I was riding well all morning and felt really good. I qualified in second place for the final and knew I had to just go out there and get it,” said Graham of his day of competition.
After some unfortunate events where Graham saw his boot break on the hill, he was proud of how he pulled through and secured the podium finish.
“My boot broke this morning and we had to make a fix on the hill with duct tape. It was a bit crazy but we made it work. I am glad it held up.”
The snowboard competition at the 2019 Canada Winter Games just began today, so there is still a lot more competition to come. Graham and his teammates were impressed with the course set up at Canyon Ski Resort and they are looking forward to getting after the remaining events this week.
“They were able to put together a great course for such a small resort. The course is really flowy and everything goes well together. I enjoyed it today.”
Snowboardcross is Graham’s main event so he is looking forward to competiting the rest of the week and seeing what he can do. This podium finish was definitely in his plan.
“I am happy with the podium finish today. This is definitely the one I wanted. I am looking forward to getting out there to compete the rest of the week and enjoy the Canada Winter Games and just go out there and do my best.”
Parallel Giant Slalom will run February 26, 2019 at Canyon Ski Resort.
