Benita Zhou (Vancouver) and Fiona Nie (Surrey) defeated Ontario to win female doubles gold in Table Tennis at the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Defeating their opponents handily in three games, Benita and Fiona played with passion and energy.
“We have already played this team four times this week, so we already knew what to expect. We just tried to relax and play our best,” said Zhou on the game plan going into today’s final.
The girls were grateful for the support of the Team BC cheer squad and thanked the fans for their enthusiasm at the match.
“The cheering really helps. It really boosts our confidence and the fans are always happy for us even if we miss a shot.”
The male doubles team will also play for gold this morning.
Benita Zhou will go for triple-gold this afternoon in the female singles final.
