It was a tough start for Team BC in their second game of the men's hockey tournament at the 2019
Canada Winter Games, but they roared back late in the game to earn a 4-3 win over Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan held a 2-0 lead thanks to a B.C. turnover and a broken stick that gave way to their second goal of the first period.

Mathew Seminoff (Coquitlam) helped put B.C. on the board with a point shot that made it past the Saskatchewan netminder. Nolan Bentham (Victoria) and Fin Williams (North Vancouver) had the assists.
After getting outshot 10 to two in the first 15 minutes of the game, Team BC caught up on the shot clock and the score clock with 4:34 left to play in the middle frame. Logan Stankoven (Kamloops) scored to tie the game 2-2 while on the powerplay. The assist went to Cage Newans (Qualicum Beach).
Team BC started the third period with back-to-back power play opportunities and didn't let that go to waste. After rising two shots of the posts, they continued to pressure Saskatchewan. That paid off just three seconds into the return of even-strength play when Trevor Wong (Vancouver) scored. Jack O'Brien (Surrey) and Elias Carmichael (Langley) got the assists in the go-ahead goal.
Team BC struck again in the third period, this time it was O'Brien netting the goal and Stankovan and Wong with the assists, to given the squad a 4-2 lead.
To make things interesting, Saskatchewan managed to score a short-handed goal putting them within one with 50 seconds left in the game. Team BC then took a delay of game penalty with just 4.3 seconds on the clock but managed to hold off Saskatchewan.
Team BC coaches said they were very happy with the win and the way the players dug deep to hold on.
The win gives B.C. a 1-1 record. They will now face Alberta (also 1-1) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
