Mission Staff Monday - Heather Beatty

The Canada Winter Games in 2019 will mark Heather’s second time being a member on Team BC Mission Staff.  A veteran of the BC sport system, Heather has worked for over ten years helping to develop athletes and better the system here in our province.

Why did you join Team BC Mission Staff?

To support the athletes in their pursuit of excellence and to learn more about some sports I am less familiar with.

Heather is on the sport staff team representing artistic swimming and snowboard.

Fast Facts about Heather:

  • Favourite Colour: Blue
  • Favourite Food: Chocolate
  • Favourite Sports Team: Team Canada (and another one!)
  • Favourite Quote: “Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.” (so true!)

Heather is currently the Director of Sport Development at viaSport where she works closely with Provincial Sport Organizations to build the capacity of the sport system. Prior to viaSport, Heather worked at Curl BC as the high performance and competitions manager.

When you're not working, how do you like to spend your time?

Being active (SPORTS) Heather enjoys yoga, running, curling and dragon boating in her spare time.

What’s the first concert you attended?

N'Sync (BYE BYE BYE)

What's the best Halloween costume you've ever had?

Spice Girls - Baby Spice (I think we all gave this one a try!)

What is your most-used emoji?

Thumbs up (classic!)

If you could win an Olympic medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be?

Curling

What advice do you have for Team BC athletes heading to Red Deer?

Enjoy the moment (the simplest but best advice yet!)

What do you take the most pictures of (what is your phone's camera roll dominated by)?

Mountains (VERY VANCOUVER)

A woman of few words has left a big impact on our hearts. We know the athletes and coaches on Team BC are lucky to have you! Thank you Heather!
