The BC Games Society is pleased to announce that Jennifer Scott has been appointed as the Chef de Mission and Danielle Williams as the Assistant Chef de Mission for Team BC as preparations begin towards the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.
Jennifer Scott has been a three-time member of Team BC Sport Mission Staff and in her position as Senior Manager of Sport Burnaby, she has been involved in sport events of various sizes including the 2016 World Taekwondo Junior Championships and securing the 2016-2019 National Rowing Championships. Under Jennifer’s leadership, Burnaby was nominated as 2016 Sport Hosting Community of the Year.
Prior to her current role, Jennifer has worked for university athletic departments, the Vancouver Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Own the Podium and the Richmond Olympic Oval.
As Chef de Mission, Jennifer is the team leader, official spokesperson, and cheerleader for Team BC, and in consultation with the Canada Games Council and the Host Society, coordinates the overall direction of the contingent's participation in the Canada Games.
Joining the team as the Assistant Chef de Mission is Danielle Williams who also has extensive multi-sport Games experience including major roles in past BC Games, mission staff in four Canada Games and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. Danielle is the Director of Operations for Skate Canada BC/YK, managing all high performance athletes in the province.
The Chefs de Mission will select a Mission Staff team to support Team BC athletes and coaches in February/March of this year.
The BC Games Society is the organization responsible for the Team BC program along with partners, the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, SportMed BC and viaSport. Team BC will send a delegation of 340 athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff to the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta February 15 to March 3.
