Team BC Soccer to compete for seventh place
Team British Columbia vs. Team New Brunswick
Final Score: 2-0 New Brunswick

On a chilly Winnipeg Friday night, the BC men’s soccer team failed to bounce back from a devastating quarterfinal result Thursday, losing 2-0 to New Brunswick. This leaves BC competing for 7th place at the Canada Summer Games setting up a rematch from earlier in the week against Nova Scotia.

A lackluster first half failed to produce any significant scoring opportunities from either side; however, New Brunswick came out flying in the second and forced the action against BC’s defenders. Nearly scoring five minutes in, New Brunswick kept up the attack and were rewarded with ten minutes to go earning a penalty off a tired BC back line. After almost netting a second goal immediately after, the east coasters put the match out of reach hammering in a ball from outside the box with only a minute remaining. BC came close to scoring a consolation goal in added time off a Devin O’Hea (North Vancouver) header, but the New Brunswick keeper stood up to the challenge conserving his shutout.

BC wraps up their tournament Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm (CDT) at Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.
