Tennis preview for August 9
Canada Games tennis today saw placing matches for teams finishing fifth and below in the Mixed Team event, as well as qualifying matches for the individual singles and doubles events. Based on the seeding of Team BC’s athletes and their win in the Mixed Team Quarter Final on Monday, they did not have to participate in the qualification matches, so it was a practice and rest day for the team.

Team BC will be back on court tomorrow for a full day of competition. The day begins at 9:00 am with Team BC meeting Team Quebec in the Semi Final of the Mixed Team event. The winner will face off against either Team Ontario or Team Alberta in the Gold Medal matches on Thursday.

In individual competition, Team BC’s men’s doubles team Aaron Diemer and Jovan Sihota and the women’s doubles team Yasmin Mansouri and Sasha Vagramov will be on court at 4:30 pm for their Quarter Finals. The third-seeded men will face the fifth seed doubles team from Nova Scotia; the second-seeded women will face eighth seed Newfoundland.

Team BC will also have three players in the singles event starting tomorrow. At 6:00 pm fourth seed Sophia Ho faces sixth seed Ashleigh Jacobs of Alberta. At 7:30 PM, third seed Jessie Gong will face fifth seed Raphaelle Lacasse of Quebec while fifth seed Jack Davis plays fourth seed Victor Krucheve of Ontario.
