First medals for Team BC at the Canada Summer Games

Team BC earned its first medals of the 2017 Canada Summer Games with a gold and two silver medals at triathlon.   Diving also added to the medal total with a silver medal in the men’s 3M synchro competition.  At athletics the para throws team added a gold and a bronze in discus.

Medal Results:

GOLD Triathlon - Desirae Ridenour (Cowichan Bay)
GOLD Athletics Para Discus - Dakoda Darling (Coquitlam)
SILVER Triathlon – Hannah Henry (Victoria)
SILVER Triathlon – Michael Milic (Delta)
SILVER Diving 3M Synchro – Bryden Hattie (Victoria) & Ryan Grover (Victoria)
BRONZE Athletics Para Discus - Eddy Solla (Chilliwack)

Desirae Ridenour on winning gold -
“I am just happy to come home with the gold and represent Team BC.  And hopefully, this will carry other teams to win more medals for us.”

Preliminary competition got underway in Athletics with Rori Denness-Lamont (White Rock) finishing fourth in javelin.  Jerome Blake (Kelowna) was first in qualfying for the 100m and both the 4x100m relay teams advanced to the finals.

Racing continued in Sailing and heats began in Rowing with 10 boats advancing to the finals.

Pool play continued in team sports with baseball and softball both with double headers and games for the women’s basketball and soccer as well as both beach volleyball teams.

Beach Volleyball women – Team Alberta 2 Team BC 1 (17-21, 21-18, 16-14)
Beach Volleyball men – Team Alberta 2 Team BC 0 (21-18-21-11)
