Team BC cyclists ride to top 10 results in mountain bike – cross-country races
Five of six Team BC athletes made top 10 finishes against stiff competition as cycling got underway with the mountain bike – cross-country races.

The athletes all battled hard in extreme heat on the Bison Butte Mountain Bike Course – with little shade along five laps.

The men were initially going to do six laps, but because of the heat, the course was shortened to five laps.

Results – Men
8th - Holden Jones (Squamish)
9th - Sean Fincham (Squamish)
10th - Rhys Harley Verner (Squamish)

Women's Cross Country
7th - Emily Unterberger (Revelstoke)
10th - Julia Long (Whistler)
11th - Lucy Schick (Gibsons)

Quote

JONES, Holden (Squamish)

On racing in the extreme heat

“I was happy with how today went considering how hot it was. I was also impressed by how fast the other riders were. It really pushed me.”

The next events for the mountain bikers are on Tuesday with the relay races.
