Team BC represents at Canada Games Flag Raising in Burnaby
As a Canada 150 Signature project, a unique 50th anniversary Canada Games flag is travelling across Canada celebrating each of the past Host Communities. Its ultimate destination will be the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg on July 28th.

The 2017 Canada Games Flag Relay officially launched on February 11th in Quebec City, host of the very first Canada Games back in 1967. This edition of the Flag Relay is the first time that each past Host Community is engaged and will be hosting an event to commemorate their Games.

The Canada Games flag arrived in Burnaby on March 8th as part of celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Canada Games, Canada’s largest multi-sport and cultural event for youth.

Sam Loutet, a Team BC hopeful for the 2017 Canada Summer Games in the sport of canoe kayak joined Team BC Assistant Chef de Mission, Eric Chene and City of Burnaby Councillor, Colleen Jordan to raise the Canada Games Flag in Burnaby.

"It is an honour to be representing so many people from different sports and different athletes and different backgrounds.  Every minute I am training I am teaching my body to push itself to its limits note only physically but mentally.  You end goals are always more important than the hurdles you have to jump over to get there.  Nothing beats the feeling of being surrounded by fellow athletes from your sport and your province all excited and nervous for a national competition and the experience that comes with it."
Sam Loutet, Athlete, Canoe Kayak
