BC Athletics is pleased to announce the Team BC coaching staff that will lead a team of 58 athletes at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.
"The Canada Summer Games are an instrumental program for our athletes. This type of high-level multisport competition will provide them with valuable experience that will help them immensely at future competitions. BC athletes have historically performed very well at the Canada Summer Games and we expect that this year's team will continue to achieve excellence," said Chris Winter, Technical Manager, BC Athletics.
Head Coach, Allen Johnston of Nanaimo brings seven previous Games experiences to the team including coaching at the 2009 Canada Summer Games and 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. Johnston is a NCCP Master Coach in middle distance.

It will be my seventh Games that I've been involved in as a coach and each Games has been very unique and has provided great memories and performances. The athletics competition also includes wheelchair racing, para throws, and Special Olympics events. Athletes will qualify to represent Team BC in athletics at a selection meet on June 10 and 11 in Coquitlam. Special Olympics selection will take place on June 16 and 17 in Langley.
The 2017 Canada Summer Games run July 28 to August 13 with the athletics competition scheduled for week one of the Games, July 28 to August 4.

About the Canada Games
The Canada Games are a national multi-sport competition with participation from every province and territory in Canada. The Games are held every two years, alternating between winter and summer. The 2017 Canada Summer Games will be held July 28 to August 13 in Winnipeg, bringing together approximately 4000 athletes, coaches and managers from every province and territory to compete in 16 sports.
