SWIMMING WRITE UP:
The Canadian Amateur Swimming Association (CASA) was created in 1909 in order to serve as Canada’s governing body of competitive swimming. In 1987, the organization changed its name to Swimming Natation Canada (SNC), representing a more concise bilingual alternative. This also enabled the organization to act more precisely in reflecting its emergence as a functionally oriented, non-profit corporation.
In remaining loyal to its mission statement, SNC makes great effort “to promote excellence in swimming” across Canada, continuing to serve as a world leader in every aspect of the sport.
SNC is proud to be the leading national sport federation for the integration of athletes with a disability with its National Team and competitive programs. Since 1994, SNC has supported the development of Swimmers with a disability to the international area. As a result, Canada’s Swimmers with a Disability national team has been a front runner on the world circuit in bringing home more gold medals than any other country at the 1998 IPC World Championships and the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney.
